Stories Beneath The Vines: Archaeology of Napa Valley

Join professional archaeologist Adie Whitaker in beautiful Bothe Napa State Park on Sunday, November 9 for a morning of Native American archaeology followed by a picnic lunch. Together we'll visit an archaeological site dating back thousands of years and a Native American plant garden. Adie will share how archaeologists can tell the stories of Native Americans in Napa Valley over the past 6,000 years from the

fragments of tools and ancient food remains left behind.


A contribution of $250 to Maya’s will buy you a place on the field trip. You can bring along your kids or grandkids for free!

Taste the Regional Cuisines of Mexico

Jim Maser is the longtime owner of Berkeley’s Picante – the favorite Mexican restaurant for generations of East Bay families.  Picante's focus is traditional Mexican dishes and drinks prepared from scratch every day, including regional recipes from around Mexico based on Jim’s many years of travel and tasting there.  Jim is offering brunch at Picante on Saturday, November 8 at 11am for 10 lucky participants who will have the opportunity to taste some of his favorite recipes and hear from Jim about the amazing depth and breadth of Mexican cuisine. 


A contribution of $250 to Maya’s will buy you a seat at the table for this delicious experience.

Bird ‘til You Drop

Do you want to up your birding game? And do it during the peak fall migration period?  Then join us in the field on Saturday, October 25th at two of the best birding spots in Northern California for what will be a day to remember.   Brad Shaffer (Distinguished Professor of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology at UCLA) and David Mindell (senior Researcher at Berkeley’s Museum of Vertebrate Zoology, past curator of ornithology at the University of Michigan and the California Academy of Sciences) will lead a group of intrepid birders on a two part birding adventure. Beginning birders are welcome!  If you have a pair of binoculars, a warm jacket, and a desire to see a pile of bird species and have some fun, please join us!


Part 1 (yours for a contribution of $250) will start at 8am at American Canyon Wetland near Vallejo and include a picnic lunch. Part 2 (for an additional $100) will take you to Bodega Bay for the afternoon.
